Bideford has a sheltered harbour on the north Devon coast on the south side of the mouth of the Bristol Channel. Ships of up to 90 metres in length are regular callers at Bideford, carry ball clay from Bideford to Finland. There is a brand new 13 metre wide quayside with new laid level clean drying berths. A new harbour office [and "Lundy Island" facilities] is under construction and due to be finished Spring 2005. This new building will cater for the needs of harbour users and visitor to Bideford Quay.
