Cycle on the wild side in Devon's great open spaces where the world belongs to you alone; you'll find the cares and worries of everyday life just disappear.
If you're new to mountain biking, look out for beginners' sessions on Dartmoor or try the Haldon Forest trails. They have graded tracks to try out your skills more gently to start off with, though with plenty of tougher features to test abilities and keep you entertained.
Dartmoor and Exmoor both offer great challenges to the fit biker, with a fine number of routes that take you into the wilder areas of the moors. Besides the amazing landscapes, you'll encounter more burial chambers, stone circles and menhirs than anywhere else in the country.
For less rugged scenery, go ride the Blackdown Hills or around Dartmouth - equally challenging, and with plenty of interest.
There are plenty of cycle hire shops if you don't have your bike with you, and if you are a real enthusiast, what better than a mountain biking holiday, specially set up by expert organisations to give you a truly unforgettable trip?
