This, the highest part of the Templer Way, initially follows the remains of the Haytor Granite Tramway over the open moorland of Haytor Down. This is a superb landscape of open moorland with extensive views beyond.
Lengths of woodland and open downland follow as it descends off the moor and then roads, lanes and tracks pass through farmland to reach Pottery Pond, at the edge of Bovey Tracey, one of Dartmoor's gateway towns.
