Distance: 6.5 miles
Difficulty: Easy/Moderate
End points:
- Newton Abbot (Grid Ref SX863718)
- Teignmouth (New Quay) (Grid Ref SX939727)
Leaving Newton Abbot the edge of the Teign Estuary is followed all the way to Shaldon. From here, the ferry across the river is taken to reach Teignmouth.
This is a fascinating walk along the estuary foreshore for most of the way, but be aware that it can only be undertaken within two hours either side of low tide - check local press or Tourist Information Centres for details. If it is timed right, it is a well worthwhile walk.
The walk ends after the ferry crossing at the New Quay at Teignmouth, not new at all but built in the early 19th century.
