Okehampton Castle, one of the two great Norman castles from which the Trail gets its name, looks over the early part of the Trail.
A length of moorland walking follows, giving views of a superb iron Victorian railway viaduct [a short diversion can be made to visit this].
Passing the church at Sourton, tucked into the side of the moor, the Trail crosses pasture land to arrive at the ancient Christian site of Bridestowe.
