East Devon Way

Walking any distance along this 38 mile path - popularly known as 'The Foxglove Way' - which runs through an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is undoubtedly one of life's richer pleasures!

Following footpaths, bridleways and stretches of quiet lanes, the whole journey takes you from Exmouth in the west to Uplyme in the east near the Dorset border; you can pick up short sections of the trail from a number of easily accessible points.

Along the way, you will find the Devon that holidaymakers dream of for fifty weeks of the year; thatched cob cottages, villages dating back to Saxon times, ancient churches, prehistoric hill forts, cob-beamed pubs, leafy lanes and glorious vistas of rolling green hills.

The route forms a parallel alternative to the South West Coast Path and is comprehensively waymarked - just follow the sign of the foxglove! - You will find that the walking, though generally easy, does include some sharp climbs.

The trail can be accessed by bus and/or train routes to allow for short lengths to be walked.
