Okehampton - Eggesford

Distance: 22 miles
Difficulty: Easy/Moderate
End points:
- Okehampton (Grid Ref SX587952)
- Eggesford (Grid Ref SS682115)

Leaving Okehampton the Trail samples a short stretch of high moorland tracks. It then passes along the spectacular wooded valley of Belstone Cleave, where the River Taw leaves the moor. The Taw Valley is then followed along country lanes and quiet footpaths, through the old borough of North Tawton, to meet the Tarka Line railway at Eggesford. The Taw Valley here becomes a notable feature in the landscape, the woodland and forestry lending an almost continental European atmosphere to the Trail
