Ivybridge - Drewsteignton

Distance: 38 miles
Difficulty: Moderate/Hard
End points:
- Ivybridge (Grid Ref SX635560)
- Drewsteignton (Grid Ref SX736908)

The Way climbs onto Dartmoor following an old mineral tramway; views back over South Devon to the sea are impressive. Moving then into the heart of the moor, a long lonely stretch follows where for almost 10 miles there is no habitation, let alone facilities. Then follows the beautiful valley of the River Dart, the ridge above the famous village of Widecombe-in-the-Moor, a prehistoric stone village at Grimspound and the spectacular Teign Gorge, crowned by the 20th century Castle Drogo, before the moor is left at Drewsteignton. This is a walk never to be forgotten.

Mileages between towns on route:

Hameldown - Chagford: 11 miles
Chagford - Drewsteignton: 4 miles
