Cockington Country Park
Visit award-winning Trust sites including Cockington, Berry Head, Seashore Centre or South West Coast Path through Torbay, with an organic educational farm opening 2006. Trust events are legendary - wildlife walks, workshops, volunteering, children's activities, rockpooling, cruises, food festivals and theatre.
The Trust manages 1800 acres of spectacular scenery in Torbay. Cockington comprises a thatched village and Lutyens-designed pub; Cockington Court Craft Centre, Rose Garden, Organic Kitchen Garden and unique play area and adjoining parkland.
Berry Head National Nature Reserve is Torbay's most important wildlife site. The 65 foot limestone headland defines Torbay's southern-most tip, offering fantastic views. Napoleonic fortifications built to protect the fleet are some of the best preserved nationally.
The Seashore Centre at Goodrington is home to the Trust's marine work, with interactive technology bringing the underwater world to life.
Other Trust sites include the South West Coast Path, John Musgrave Heritage Trail, woodland, coves and farms.
Opening in March 2006 is the Occombe Farm Project, an eductaional farm with shop, cafe and nature trail.
The Trust runs over 200 events each year to appeal to walkers, gardeners, children, foodies and those interested in heritage and wildlife.

Road Directions
From the seafront:
Come along the seafront from Torquay town centre to the Livermead House Hotel. The turning is on the right hand side by the hotel, signposted Cockington Country Park. Follow the lane into the village to the junction.
Cockington is served by three car parks, Cockington Village and Higher Lodge Car Park. The car park at the rear of Cockington Court is most suitable for disabled access. Turn right and bear left towards the Drum Inn. Just past the main Village Car Park is a bus stop on the left hand side, take the left hand turning to the Drum Inn, signposted Cockington Court, Meeting Rooms. Follow the lane right up to the back of the Court, passing the stable on the right hand side. There is a Pay and Display Car Park straight ahead. Charges in this car park are £1.00 for 2 Hours and £2.50 for 2-12 hours; Blue Badge holders £1.00 up to 12 hours. Torbay Council annual parking permits are honoured, in the car park to the rear of Cockington Court as are Torbay Council Blue disabled badges.
From Old Paignton Road:
Follow the road down the hill into a steep valley and carry on up the hill with Preston Primary School on the right hand side. At the junction turn right and follow the road a little way and then turn left into Manscombe Road. Follow road to the junction at the bottom of the hill. Turn left. This is signposted Cockington. Follow lane to the bottom and then turn left into Cockington Lane. Follow previous instructions into the village.
Public Transport Directions
By Bus:
The number 12 bus runs approximately every 10 minutes throughout the day. Take the bus to Cockington Lane/Livermead House Hotel. Walk up Cockington Lane and through the Watermeadows on the boardwalk, a 20 minute walk. Unfortunately, the route is not suitable for wheelchairs.
The Cockington bus runs Monday to Friday during March, April and October. Buses run daily from May to September. Catch the bus from the Cockington bus stop opposite the Torbay Hotel, near the Pavilions in Torquay. Contact Dial a Bus on 01803 690222 for further information.
By Train:
Cockington is accessible by train. Change at Newton Abbot for Torquay Station. Cockington is a five minute walk along Hennapyn Road, through the Watermeadows and boardwalk.
Cycle racks are available behind Cockington Court.
