Born and educated in Australia, Judith was involved in a different career when Jean-Pierre Rampal heard her play and suggested she become a professional musician.

Her debut in the Park Lane Group's "Young Musicians and Twentieth Century Music" series on the South Bank was very warmly received, and she immediately became Principal Flute of the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. After seven years she left to give more time to solo and chamber music. She is presently Principal Flute with the English Symphony Orchestra.

She currently teaches flute at Birmingham Conservatoire and is also a teacher of the Alexander Technique.

She also plays for films, recently Shrek 2 and broadcasts for the BBC. Her CD’s are well received and have been fifth in the Best Selling Classical CD.

With funds from the Arts Council she has commissioned many new pieces for flute, notably Jonathan Lloyd's theatre piece 'The Apprentice's Sorcery', broadcast by the BBC from the Cheltenham International Festival.

The Divertimento Ensemble was formed in 2004 to perform major works of chamber music in the South West. The group regularly gives concerts in Totnes, but is becoming increasingly popular with music societies in the region.
