Exeter's Underground Passages re-opened in September 2007 with a brand new visitor centre packed with interactive exhibits and improved interpretation.

The Passages were built to house the pipes that brought clean drinking water into medieval Exeter. A guided tour of Exeter's Underground Passages is a memorable event - narrow, dark, interesting and exciting.

These are the only passages of this kind open to the public in Britain. In fact, Exeter's Underground Passages have been HIGHLY COMMENDED in a prestigious national award.
The recently re-opened Passages were awarded second place for 'Project on a Limited Budget' in the Museum and Heritage Awards for Excellence, which were held The Church House in Westminster on 7 May 2008.
