Cultural Devon > Devon Gardens > Docton Mill Gardens
Situated 1400 yds from the Spekes Mill Mouth coastal waterfall and beach, this then derelict watermill was acquired in c1980 and had its former waterways cleared and restored, creating ponds, leats and foot bridges over the river and many smaller streams. A boggy area was drained to make a stream and bog garden with ligularias, primulas and ferns. Everything is as natural as possible. In spring there are narcissi, camellias, primulas, magnolias. In summer there are old shrub roses and perennial geraniums.
