There's definitely something inspirational about Devon! Many famous musicians, chefs and sports and media people hail from here or have chosen to make it their home.

Top class chefs abound in Devon. Think Michael Caines of Gidleigh Park, with his prestigious two Michelin stars. Or John Burton-Race at the New Angel, who appeared on Channel 4's 'French leave'. Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's River Cottage is well-known to all serious foodies.

Comedian and author, Ade Edmondson, famed for his role as Vyvyan Basterd, has settled in Devon with wife Jennifer Saunders, award-winning actor and writer of AbFab fame. Comedian and actor Rik Mayall, whose comedy partnership with Ade Edmondson produced great shows, also settled here. Location, Location, Location's Kirstie Allsopp is proud to be a native Devonian.

Popular stars on the music scene, R&B and blues singer and songwriter Joss Stone was born near Exeter as was Coldplay's lead singer and pianist, Chris Martin. Progressive rock band Muse was formed in Teignmouth back in 1997.

On the sporting side, distinguished tennis players Sue Barker and Angela Mortimer, Wimbledon winner in 1961, both hail from Devon.
