Food Awards

Check out the Devon entries in any foodie guide - you'll quickly appreciate how many restaurants and pubs are listed with stars, rosettes, medals and other accolades recognising their outstanding food and top-class service.

Michelin Starred restaurants
Leading the distinguished field is Gidleigh Park in Chagford, where Michael Caines has earned an impressive two Michelin stars for its restaurant. Hot on his heels with one Michelin star are Simon Hulstone at Torquay's The Elephant restaurant, The Masons Arms near South Molton, and The New Angel in Dartmouth.

AA and RAC rosettes are sprinkled across the county, with around 60 restaurants proudly displaying AA rosettes. The Which? Good Food Guide also praises highly over a dozen establishments. CAMRA, the Which? Good Pub Guide and a whole range of magazines are equally enthusiastic about the standards they have found in pubs.

Natural and Organic awards 2008
Award winning ODE restaurant in the estuary village of Shaldon, near Teignmouth, was named as one of the top three certified organic restaurants in the UK along with restaurants from London and Glasgow at the Natural and Organic Awards 2008. Since opening in March 2007, ODE restaurant is one of the only a handful of certified organic restaurants to be listed in the Michelin Guide 2008 and AA Restaurant Guide 2008 and was also awarded Taste of the West "South West Restaurant of the Year 2007".

Taste of the West Food & Drink awards
For 14 years the prestigious Taste of the West Food & Drink awards have sought out and encouraged the exceptional - and found it in plenty in Devon. Gold awards in the hospitality section were made in 2006 to the Venus cafés, The Merry Harriers and The Jack in the Green. And hundreds more awards were given to individual suppliers of produce of outstanding quality and flavour.
