Foodie Devon > Eating Out > Tanners Restaurant
Tanners Restaurant is known throughout the region for fine quality and attention to every detail. The best of local produce, prepared with style and flair, mixed with that special ingredient that only the Tanner Brothers are capable of producing.
It was a childhood dream of ours to own and operate our own establishment. That dream became a reality on 17 July 1999 when we opened our doors for business.
Our vision was an affordable, exciting restaurant where we could develop our own individual style and concept: Fine food, fine wine and an ambience to match. We source the very best in local suppliers to ensure your meal is a memorable one. We make everything on site, fresh each day.
Our backgrounds in the food world are synonymous with great restaurants in London, Bath, France and New York. Recently we have been called upon to take part in a number of popular television food programmes. James in particular is becoming quite a regular on Ready, Steady, Cook and Saturday Kitchen.
Tanners can accomodate 45 people, split into two rooms. The well room provides the unique experience of dining by one of Plymouth's original limestone wells.
The ambience is relaxed, convivial and steeped in the long history of one of England's most famous sea ports. The deep medieval walls with so many original features creates a truly timeless experience. It is from Plymouth that Drake sailed forth to defeat the Spanish Armada and the Pilgrim Fathers set off on the Mayflower. That long history and tradition combines with the best of modern food technology to create a memorable occasion, whether it is an intimate dinner for two or a group celebration.
