Having bought the pub just over two years ago, the warm and friendly Whitemans and their team have won 6 awards already, including 'Devon Country Pub of the Year' (twice) and 'Wine Offering of the Year'.

Commited to what they call 'Real Food with style and substance', they source as much of their produce locally as possible and use fresh, quality ingredients. The emphasis is on modern European dishes as well as classics such as liver and bacon, fish and chips and Devon Ruby steaks. It is all freshly prepared to order by the award-winning chef Tim and his team in the kitchen.

The Whitemans are also passionate about wine (both are qualified wine-makers) and encourage customers to experiment. The wine list is eclectic, exciting and fairly-priced.

When the weather is good, it is worth sitting out on the wooden decking, with its stunning views of rolling Devon hills and Brentor.
