Exe Estuary Circular
This day out takes in two of First Great Western's "Great Scenic Railways of Devon and Cornwall" - the Avocet Line from Exeter to Exmouth and the Riviera Line from Starcross to Exeter. Both lines offer magnificent views of the Exe
estuary which can't be seen from the car and they link up with an hourly ferry service from Exmouth to Starcross and vice-versa (except in Winter). There is no better way to see the rich variety of birdlife on the estuary. Alternatively, you can combine it with a walk or simply sit back and enjoy the stunning views.
