Ride and Stride

Devon has some excellent walks very close to public transport links, allowing you to take a short bus, train or ferry ride and then walk back - creating a great circuit for you to enjoy. Use our suggestions below to find out more:

Ride and Stride along part of the East Devon Way
This walk is based on a bus ride and a stride around Newton Poppleford along the route of the East Devon Way. It offers a pleasant walk through quiet countryside as well as some good views over the valley of the River Otter, one of East Devon's characteristic landscape features.

Ride and Stride along the Erme Plym Trail
Discover the beautiful coast and Marine Conservation Area at Wembury, South Devon using this good half-day walk along footpaths, through fields and along quiet green lanes along the River Erme in South Devon.

Ride and Stride along the River Dart
This is a great half-day walk along a stretch of the Dart Valley Trail on the eastern side of the Dart Estuary, between Greenway and Kingswear. This walk involves ferry rides to make an interesting and scenic round trip.

Ride and Stride along the Exe Valley Way
Exe Marks the Spot! A half-day walk along the east bank of the beautiful River Exe following a length of the Exe Valley Way in its middle section between Bickleigh and Tiverton. Much of the walk is through rich woodlands of oak and ash.

Ride and Stride in Tarka the Otter Country
