We are very pleased to be celebrating our 50th anniversary at Beverley Holidays this year (2008).
We are very proud of our achievements over the 50 years and we have come a long way! Our parks have become an integral part of the area of Paignton and the wider Bay with many tourists visiting us over the years.
In 1956, builder and caravan enthusiast, Joseph Stanley Jeavons and his wife Marion had a dream of opening a caravan site in Torbay. They bought 21 acres of farmland in Goodrington with beautiful views over the Bay and moved from Womborne in Staffordshire with their three sons Peter, Alan and Michael. Beverley Park opened in 1959 with just 10 caravans, a few tents and a shop – with the famous Beverley Sisters as the inspiration for its name! Established as a successful family-run, Beverley Park earned its five-star status in 1975. At the time, it was just one of four parks to have been awarded this accolade in England. Beverley Holidays now consists of five parks over 42 acres, with 406 caravans, 23 lodges, 200 touring pitches and 30 privately owned caravans.
It is really a double celebration for us this year, as our resident band, Jubilee, are also celebrating their 25th anniversary with us at Beverley Park. Jubilee was founded by singers Chris Shannon and Derek Elson. Chris studied percussion at the RAF School of Music and has worked in theatre, while Derek played with top bands in London in the 1960s and 70s. Our holiday customers love Chris and Derek and they have made many friends over the years. They, like all our staff, have been integral to our success over the years.
We celebrated our 50th anniversary and their 25th anniversary with an ‘All That Glitters is Gold’ party. On the night, we raised £1,236 towards ovarian cancer in memory of Judith Jeavons.
We would like to say thank you to all those who have been a part of Beverley Holidays over the years. We are now looking to the future and to our continuing success.
