Nestling amidst the ancient Blackdown Hills – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – Bidwell Farm Cottages and their five acres sit in rolling unspoiled Devonshire countryside between the hamlet of Rawridge and the village of Up-Ottery, each just two minutes drive away.
The Haybarton
The cottage has been tastefully restored to echo its original beamed high ceiling in the spacious sitting room, with a wood-burner and large television with full Sky television programmes. Family meals may be taken in the large,well-appointed farm-house kitchen with French doors to own garden and barbecue. The Haybarton offers three generously sized en suite bedrooms - two doubles and one ground-floor twin which is wheel-chair friendly. Own garden and car-parking.
The Cow Byre
This is the latest development, opened in April 2006, converted from a long traditional Devon cow shed, now offering contemporary open-plan kitchen-dining-living facilities in a high beamed ceiling with views over the Otter Valley. There is a woodburner for colder evenings with full Sky television programmes. The Cow Byre has three tastefully decorated en suite bedrooms – two spacious doubles and a generous ground-floor twin which is wheel-chair friendly with its own large wet-room. Own garden and car-parking.
Up-Ottery is a pretty, secluded agricultural village dating back to at least Domesday and drawing its name from the River Otter which flows through it. It was voted Devonshire’s Best Kept Village for 2006. Its church, pub and school are at the heart of a warm and welcoming community. Bidwell Farm dates to 1717 and has been totally and lovingly restored, now offering superb contemporary living within its traditional shell.
