Home / Devon Accommodation / Combe House Hotel & Restaurant
'Best Country House Hotel 2004' - The Sunday Times Travel Magazine.
Combe House is a wildly romantic, 15 bedroom Elizabethan Manor near Exeter, in acres of Devon estate where Arabian horses and pheasants roam freely. Combe lies at the end of a long winding drive that leads to Gittisham - described by HRH Prince Charles as 'the ideal English village'.
The alluring combination of heritage and a welcoming lived-in feel make Combe a special place for an indulgent mix of eating, drinking and relaxing in the country.
Furnished stylishly with understated elegance, the House exudes an airy and magical atmosphere of times gone by. There's an abundance of fresh flowers, roaring log fires, treasured antiques and mullioned windows.
The Restaurant consists of two light, yet intimate dining rooms with chandeliers and beautifully hand-painted walls. Guests are treated to glorious views by day and candlelit dinners by night. Combe's Masterchef of Great Britain really knows his ingredients, drawing from the abundance of the West Country's larder to make flavours and textures speak for themselves. 'Restaurant of the Year 2005' - Devon Life Food Awards.
Combe House has been awarded a Michelin Rising Star for the second year in succession for its culinary excellence in the 2008 Michelin Red Guide, which is one of the most recognised and influential restaurant guides in Europe featuring only 122 restaurants in the UK with one or more stars.
Rising Stars were introduced in 2005 by the Michelin Guide to draw attention to restaurants that represent the gourmet dining ‘stars’ of tomorrow. Combe was one of just five establishments across the UK listed as being in line for their first Michelin Star.
Close by, the World Heritage coastline and National Trust houses, gardens and the antiques town of Honiton.
