The Croft House Guest Accommodation is ideal for a relaxing retreat or an exhilarating break away. We are located in the heart of the old town of Lynton perched 600 metres above the picturesque twin harbour town of Lynmouth. Lynton and Lynmouth have attracted visitors for over 200 years, occupying a beautiful South West Coastal location in Exmoor National Park that crosses the Somerset and North Devon borders.
The Croft House is a charming Grade II listed Georgian building dated 1828, recently photographed by English Heritage to be featured on their Images of England website.
Originally built as a sea captain's grand residence, it has played welcome host to many a traveller to Lynton over time. A copy advert, found behind an old photograph when the current proprietors moved in, reads 'First Class Food and Personal Service for 5 1/2 guineas per week'. The Food and Service standards have been maintained, but whilst offering great value for money, the tariff has had to be updated!
A warm welcome awaits with welcome refreshments on arrival in the large and inviting guest lounge. To help you get the best out of your Bed and Breakfast short break or longer holiday, the guest lounge is well equipped with information on Lynton, Lynmouth, Exmoor and North Devon. Maps, walking and visitor guides, transport links and timetables, and guides to Lynton and Lynmouth's restaurants and bistros are all here for your leisurely perusal. Our Notice Board has up to date details of local events, Lynton's Cinema's daily screening of the latest released films, and Exmoor National Park events.
From the guest lounge a glorious wealth of foliage beyond the French windows entices you up a pathway to the small secluded walled garden. A natural sun trap on a sunny day, you are welcome to take time to sit and enjoy your refreshments, beneath the canopy of green tranquillity, in this little haven of Devon. On a summers evening, relax with a drink from the bar and admire the starlit sky of Exmoor.
The hallway and staircase set with original photographs, prints and paintings, leads you to the charming bedrooms off two landings. The character bedrooms, each individually named and all en-suite or with private facilities, are well equipped for your Bed and Breakfast breakaway. TV, books, guest information, radio / alarm, hospitality tray, hairdryer, are in each room. Our Bed and Breakfast short or long breaks are ideal for you to leave behind the trappings of modern times, however high-speed wireless broadband internet access is available on your own laptop.
We can host double / twins, some family groups and singles. With two landings, the Croft House Guest Accommodation is ideal for group bookings, where you can book two or three adjacent rooms on one of the two floors.
