Esmé’s Cottage is our bolthole in Devon in the South West of England. The Cottage is located in the bustling Devonshire town of Ivybridge which sits on the southern edge of Dartmoor. The South Hams beaches and clifftop pathways are a pleasant 20 minute drive away.
The Cottage is located just 50 metres from the original Ivy Bridge, a 13th century stone-built construction which crosses the River Erme in the old part of Ivybridge’s town centre. The bridge, which was the subject of the 1813 painting ‘Ivy Bridge’ by Turner, is still in use today.
Ivybridge High Street is a mere 200 metres from the Cottage, providing access to a wide range of town centre amenities & facilities. Yet, the serenity of Dartmoor is just a walk away, and the beaches a short drive away. This makes Esmé’s Cottage the ideal all-season holiday accommodation for families and couples.
The Cottage, which has recently undergone sensitive modernisation and refurbishment, is one in a row of 6 terraced cottages which were built approximately 170 years ago. On entering from the street, the Cottage comprises a main living room and large kitchen/diner downstairs. Upstairs there are 3 pretty bedrooms and a toilet/bathroom with bath and shower. The property is carpeted throughout, except for the blue-pebble bathroom floor and the kitchen which is floored in blue-grey slate.
The accommodation, which retains many original features including oak beams and inglenook fireplace, is centrally heated and benefits from modern sealed-unit double-glazing. It comfortably sleeps up to 5 + baby. The property is professionally serviced & maintained, with freshly laundered linen & towels included in the rental price. Guests also have access to a small, private south-facing patio and rockery garden to the rear of the property. Patio furniture and barbecue are provided.
