Hour-long tours of vast underground quarry started by the Romans and worked until the early c1900s. The stone quarried can be seen in many famous buildings and in 24 cathedrals throughout the country. The visitor has an insight into the methods of working and the privations suffered by quarrymen. There are many old signatures dating back to the 17thC and many human interest stories and tales of the quarrymen and the smugglers who also used the workings.
