Clovelly Herring Festival 2008

Second festival to celebrate the King of fishes, once the staple economy of Clovelly, in the crusade to help conserve dwindling fish stocks, safeguard the livelihoods of fishermen and promote neglected, but great-tasting species like the herring.

Meet Mike Smylie, maritime historian and writer, and see his Kipperland exhibition, smokehouse and demonstrations of fishing skills and crafts. Quay kitchen, food stalls, shanty singers, Singing Fishwives, cookery competition, special promotion of Devon cider and wine and more.
