Exmouth's two mile sandy beach is great for paddling, swimming and building sandcastles. there are rock pools and areas suitabel for windsurfing and water skiing.
The Exe estuary supports an abundance of birdlife, including sandpipers and rare avocets. An Exe Estuary Circular ticket which combines rail and ferry travel runs between Exeter, Exmouth, Starcross and Exeter in either direction. Tickets can be purchased from train stations along the route or from the conductor on the train. Exmouth also marks the Western Gateway to the World Heritage Jurassic Coast. UNESCO heritage status was given to the coast of Devon and Dorset in 2001 in recognition of its unique landscape, which spans 185 million years of Earth history.
One of the real joys of Exmouth is that it is possible to enjoy the best of the traditional beach holiday and also engage in a wide range of activities, with Exeter a short and scenic train-ride away.
