A unique opportunity to visit some of Exeter's most interesting and unusual historic sites and buildings for free.
Date: 11 - 14 September 2008
Established in 1994 Heritage Open Days is England's biggest and most popular voluntary cultural event. The event is co-ordinated by the Civic Trust, and is part of a European wide initiative - European Heritage Days, in which now 48 countries participate.
An unofficial festival of culture and architecture when hundreds of the Country's finest and fascinating buildings and sites open their doors to the public for free.
Many of these attractions are not normally open to the public and this event provides a rare opportunity to discover some of England's greatest treasures.
The Civic Trust is a charity devoted to improving the quality of life in cities, owns and villages. Its work is broad reaching from practical urban and rural regeneration projects to championing Civic Societies and organising the Civic Trust Awards.
The Heritage Open Days provide an opportunity to discover and explore some of Exeter's marvellous historic buildings not normally open to the public such as:
Poltimore House
Oakwood House & Materials Reclamation Facility
Exeter Synagogue
