Home / Devon Events / Seaton & Beer
Situated on the estuary of the River Axe, the pretty seaside resort of Seaton offers quiet and restful holidays with its mile long pebble beach and beautiful gardens. From here you can take a tram ride along the River Axe to historic Colyton or enjoy spectacular cliff walks to the delightful fishing village of Beer.
Central on the World Heritage Coast it provides access to Lyme Regis and West Dorset via the famous Undercliff Landslip.
Tradition has it that a Spanish vessel, possibly from the Spanish Armada was wrecked off the shores of nearby Beer and that the crew settled there. Many locals remain proud of their Spanish routes.
The South West Coast Path and East Devon Way pass Seaton’s door. Other visitor attractions include Seaton Tramway. A fleet of heritage trams wend their way through the glorious Axe Valley, passing Seaton Marshes and Colyford Common. Roman walled forts and a castle hide in the surrounding hills. Alternatively, why not visit Pecorama with its model railway exhibition and Millennium Gardens, or the 70 acres of the spectacular Beer Quarry Caves.
