At Sheldon this year we have a wide range of activities planned for all ages:
Events – Summer 2008
5th July – The Osilgi Maasai Warrior Dance Troupe - Performing stunning dances, jumps, music and storytelling. Plus a chance to meet and chat to the warriors after their performance. A free night for all ages. A bucket will be passed around to donate to the warriors to enable them to get water to their village and education for their children, especially the girls. Licensed bar and barbeque food on sale. Free parking. Easily accessible wheelchair tier with bookable spaces. Seating on grass terraces. Please let us know you are coming.

19th July – The Rat Pack, a fabulous sharp suited and sharp sounding 9 piece band with vocals serving up an eclectic mix of big band, swing, jump, jive, pop and Latin.

20th July – Open Gardens a chance to wander around 45 acres of gardens, fields and woodlands, watch craft demonstrations and round the afternoon off with a home produced cream tea. 2.30pm-5.30pm. £5 per car.

26th July – Prom from Scratch – all the atmosphere of a prom – with a twist – the performers have rehearsed together, under the guidance of an experienced conductor, from 2.00pm on the day of the concert. A totally unique night promising lots of audience participation.

28th and 29th July – Sheldon Beat - Young People’s Music Workshop – which leads to a performance slot on the Open Stage Night. 10.30am-4.00pm. A fantastic music workshop for young people. Multi-instrumentalist music teacher Sue Ashby will bring a treasure trove of ethnic percussion instruments with which to explore World Music though play, song and dance. Great fun and no experience needed. Participants will prepare a short piece to perform at the Open Stage night at 7.00pm on Wednesday 30 July.
Ideal age 7-14, but younger possible if accompanied. £15 per person for both days. Free parking. Instruments provided. Numbers limited – book early to avoid disappointment. Lunch: bring your own or buy a lunch ticket for £4.

30th July – Open Stage – local artists performing - there are still spaces for others to sign up and do their thing in this unique setting. 7.30pm. Licensed bar and barbeque food on sale. Admission free but please let us know if you are coming.

31st July – Wild about Sheldon - A family activity day around Sheldon includes a thrilling display from Dartmoor Hawking. £10 per person. Free parking. No unaccompanied children. No dogs.
