"Every town should have a place like this" said Mathew Fort in The Guardian. A tiny restaurant with lovely food at the back of the shop laden with goodies. The counters are full of our own savoury and sweet tarts, salads, pates and cooked meats, superb cheeses, international charcuterie and antipasti.

Devon is a supremely luscious and productive food area, and we are fortunate to be based here in both Totnes and Exeter.

Effings stock great locally made products. These include chocolates, liqueurs, fruit juices, honeys, jams, chutneys, condiments, vinegars and much more.

As well as the meals we serve in our restaurants, we also make our own pates, terrines, cooked meats, sweet and savoury tarts and salads for sale in our delicatessens. These are made from fresh fish from Brixham, locally reared pork, venison from Dartmoor, local lamb, beef and poultry and locally grown fruit and vegetables.

We have created somewhere special for anyone who is looking for more than just something to eat.

Starter:

Terrine of fresh salmon with a mixed leaf salad and pickled baby cucumbers
Veloute of cauliflower with truffle oil and chives.

Main:
Ballotine of chicken breast with wild mushrooms her risotto and a light tarragon sauce
Pithivier of goats cheese with walnuts croutons, mixed leaves and walnut dressing
Poached skate with crispy vegetables, tomato, caper and parsley buttersauce and straw potatoes

Dessert:
Pannacotta and local rhubarb with effings vanilla ice cream.
