Home / Devon Food and Drink / Fox and Hounds Country Hotel
Just a scenic train ride from Exeter to Eggesford the Fox and Hounds Country Hotel is a beautiful venue on the River Taw with a wood beamed, antique furnished bar serving food and drink all day. Or you might prefer the light and airy restaurant with its lovely Garden Terrace overlooking the grounds which extend down to the river. Our head chef Alex sources all the ingredients locally and we are one of the few kitchens approved to supply Exmoor beef - known for its quality.
We are proud of our recent High Commendation at the Publican Food Awards in 2007. Our bar menu features English classics done to perfection and our proper homemade Steak and Kidney Pudding with hand cut proper chips has legendary status. The restaurant offers intimate candle lit suppers at the weekend with a regularly changing Table d'hote featuring 4 courses for £24.95 (booking essential) which is all cooked freshly to order. From March we will be showcasing our Exmoor beef and other fine roasts for a Sunday carvery and from May the Garden Terrace is open for al fresco dining.
Don't miss our Sunday Jazz Lunch with the Steve Tucker All Stars on the last Sunday of every month - early booking advised.
