Hidden away down the winding lanes of Dartmoor is the Peter Tavy Inn, a foodie pub full of character. The main building dates back to the 15th century and has its origins as a 15th century smithy - you'll dine in traditional surroundings. The food is all homemade and hearty, with Chef Christine Kilfedders keeping up a changing menu, featuring dishes such as steak and Stilton pie and duck breast with an orange and red fruit sauce. Landlord Chris Worthingham welcomes those who’re just after a drink too - and there’s plenty to choose from.

Few inns anywhere in the land enjoy the reputation earned by the renowned Peter Tavy Inn, which draws visitors from near and far with its delightful setting, cheerful atmosphere and superb food and drink.

Booking is recommended every session in the restaurant, where the blackboard menus offer a fantastic choice of dishes cooked by one of the most talented teams in the country. Some dishes are staunchly British, while others reflect worldwide influences, and the award-winning food is complemented by a good choice of wines by glass or bottle; other drinks include well-kept real ales, local farm cider and 30 malts.

When the weather is kind the picnic benches in the garden are in great demand, but inside or out, rain or shine, a visit to this outstanding inn is an occasion to savour.
