This unique 16-sided house was built on the instructions of two spinster cousins, Jane and Mary Parminster, on their return from grand tour of Europe. Completed c.1796, the house was built to house the many curios they collected whilst abroad. The house is 16 sided with rooms radiating off a central octaganol hall. The interior decoration includes a unqiue feather frieze and shell-encrusted gallery which, due to its fragility, can only be fully viewed on closed-circuit television. The collection includes specially commissioned pieces of furniture to fit the style of the house and occupiers as well as many items of art and craft work undertaken by Mary and Jane. These feature intricate paper cuts, family silhouettes and decoupage. Each room has its own atmosphere and treasures unlike any other. A unique example of regency feminine eccentricity!
The property enjoys a stunning setting with views over the sea and estuary.
