This disused railway line in the village of Halwill Junction is home to a variety of wildlife. Along the railway line edges, scrub can predominate and includes such species as goat willow, alder, rowan and gorse. There are also more open areas supporting heather, mosses and lichens. Kidney vetch, which is rare inland, is also present. Wetter areas support such plants as wild angelica, ragged robin and a good display of marsh orchids. The site is good for dragonflies and damselflies, and green woodpecker, tits and warblers can be seen in the scrub and willow. The Ruby Way cycle path runs through the reserve.
