Hardwick Wood is an ancient woodland situated on a hilltop location on the outskirts of Plymouth and Plympton village. It is highly prominent in the landscape. The west end has suffered storm damage in the past, and the replanting gives a great opportunity to see young woodland. The more sheltered eastern end of the wood was little affected by the gales and consists of a mature Oak Ash and Beech high forest. The wood is criss-crossed by a network of wide grass rides, and narrow paths. The superb show of bluebell, ransom and Campion during the spring and sun dappled rides in summer ensure you’ll want to return to this woodland haven only a stones throw from the metropolis of Plymouth.
