Devon Wildlife Trust saved this remarkable Culm grassland smallholding from agricultural improvement in 1994 when they bought the site at auction. A circular route leads you through the meadows and stunning Culm Grassland - a marshy, heathy vegetation that occurs across north west Devon. The site is rich in flowering plants, including southern-marsh orchid, sneezewort and devil's bit scabious and has a diverse fauna including chiffchaff, spotted flycatcher and the rare marsh fritillary butterfly.

Where: SS761182
When: All year round but Culm Grassland is best visited in early June for wildflowers and butterflies
Facilities: Car Park, Dogs Allowed, Information Boards, Visitor Centre, Walks,
Access: No bus or cycle walk.
Hints and Tips: A circular route runs around the reserve including some stretches of boardwalk over the most difficult areas, although the ground can still be very wet and uneven in places. Allow about an hour to walk around the reserve.
