Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway from Paignton is the holiday line with steam trains running for seven miles in Great Western tradition along the spectacular Torbay coast to Churston and through the wooded slopes bordering the Dart estuary to Kingswear. The scenery is superb, with seascapes right across Lyme Bay to Portland Bill on clear days. Approaching Kingswear is the beautiful River Dart, with its fascinating craft, and on the far side, the olde worlde town of Dartmouth and the famous Britannia Royal Naval College, Butterwalk, Bayard’s Cove and Dartmouth Castle.

The Boat Train
A day excursion with Paignton and Dartmouth Railway and River Link. Travel on the steam railway from Paignton to Kingswear, then cross on the passenger ferry to explore Dartmouth before taking a one hour circular river cruise. Sit back and enjoy the trip as you pass the historic places and the unsurpassed scenery, then return on the passenger ferry to Kingswear for your return train ride to Paignton.
Round Robin
Round Robin is your combined ticket, entitling you to make a circular journey from Paignton to Kingswear by steam train, by ferry to Dartmouth, then a river cruise to Totnes and return by bus to Paignton. you can break your journey at any time along the route, or if you prefer you can do the trip in reverse. There are many departures each day, but sailings vary, according to the tides. So call in to any River Link Booking Office at Dartmouth or Paignton Steam Railway Station for your tickets and information packs.
Sea Train Adventure
One ticket enables you to cruise from Torquay (11am) or Brixham (11.30am) along some of South Devon’s most beautiful coastline to Dartmouth. After exploring Dartmouth your ticket takes you across the river on the passenger ferry to board the steam train at Kingswear for a single journey in great western tradition along 7 miles of spectacular coastline to Paignton. After exploring Paignton you then board your ferry at the harbour to return back to your original port.

Paignton There is no car parking at our station. Local authority car parking and the car park at the mainline railway station are within 200 yards, all at level access from the town centre. Goodrington Local authority car park close to the station - no wheelchair access to trains because of steps to station platform. Churston Limited free parking adjoining the station, level access. Kingswear Limited parking nearby.
By rail - to Paignton mainline station. By bus - good network of services to Paignton bus station (next to mainline and Queen's Park stations).
