Established for over 30 years Bellbrook has always been known for its great fly-fishing but it is also known as one of the prettiest fisheries in the country. It is set in its own 40-acre valley with an abundance of wildlife, including deer, badgers, foxes, rabbits and buzzards as well as many wild and rare flowers and plants. It provides a heavenly setting in which to “re-charge one’s batteries” and is known for its superb fishing with peace and tranquillity.

There is a wide range of trout fishing available; the seven lakes are all spring and brook fed and the water is extremely fertile with the adjacent meadow and woodland ensuring a good supply of natural food – consequently there is excellent imitative fly-fishing. This also contributes to the superb quality and excellent tasting pink-fleshed trout.

The fishery is open 8:00am to Dusk or 9:00pm (which ever is the earlier) seven days a week all year round. It is not essential to book but it is preferred if you can let us know when you are coming and also ensures that you come on a day when we are not too busy or have an event running.

The lakes are stocked with Rainbow, Blue and Brown Trout. The fishery policy is to provide a wide range of fishing difficulty to suit everyone from the beginner to the more experienced. We do this by carefully managing the stocking levels in each of the 7 lakes. We operate a policy of “trickle-stocking” and this way avoid the “boom and bust” fishing that can occur otherwise.

Three of the lakes (Exmoor, Sedgemoor and Ottmoor) are stocked with “Normal” fish which are upto 2½ lbs – but there are also a few surprises. The other lakes (Ironmill, Bodmin and Dartmoor) are stocked with “Specimen” fish which are above 3 lbs and run upto very large. Last year the average sizes were 2lb in the Normal lakes and 5½lbs in the Specimen lakes.

There are two types of accommodation at Bellbrook either B&B staying in the annex attached to the house or Self-catering at one of the luxury static caravans. In either case you will enjoy a sense of privacy and tranquillity that comes with a small-scale family business. Many of our guests visit several times a year as each season has something different to offer.

For those of you who like to fish it offer's an excellent private place of your own, and for those others in your party who perhaps don't wish to fish, we are in easy proximity to golf courses, riding schools and stables and many beautiful surf beaches. There are a large number of castles and National Trust buildings that make for a wonderful day out and we would be very happy to recommend some to you.

Road Directions

From the M5: Leave the M5 at Jn 27 and head west towards Tiverton and Barnstaple on the A361. At the Tiverton roundabout go straight over on the A361, after 5-6 miles there is a junction called Stonelands Cross. Take the right hand turn sign-posted Bellbrook and Spurway.

From Barnstaple/South Molton: Follow the A361 towards Tiverton and the M5. Stonelands Cross junction is 9 miles east of the South Molton roundabout and is sign-posted left to Bellbrook and Spurway. Continue for 2 miles - you will see our signposts along the way – and at the bottom of the hill take the right hand fork, we are approx 200m on your right. This lane is quite narrow and winding so take your time but don’t worry as there is very little traffic. If you do encounter another car the chances are they are locals and will reverse to the nearest passing place.
