This is a straightforward route, which undulates with some very steep hills and uses quiet lanes and roads. It is suitable for all abilities providing that you take your time.

This route starts in Okehampton and will take you through some of Devon's delightful villages and countryside. It follows the NCN27 Devon Coast to Coast route all the way to Hatherleigh, then branches off looping back through Folly Gate to re-join the NCN27 at Goldburn Cross.

The route is described counter-clockwise but is equally good in either direction.

Facilities along route: There are a number of refreshment opportunities at Hatherleigh and Okehampton. There is also cycle hire and a tourist information centre in Okehampton. There are public toilets in Hatherleigh and Okehampton.

Please note that this is not a Devon County Council maintained route. This route passes near Okehampton Castle and Hatherleigh Pottery.

Car Parking in Okehampton is limited, although there are pay and display car parks in Market Street, Mill Road, School Way and Simmons Park.

Public Transport Directions

Okehampton is served by regular buses from Exeter and Plymouth. There is also a summer Sunday train service from Exeter.
