Birthplace of St Boniface in AD680, the rural town of Crediton lies in the heart of Devon among rolling green hills.

There are a number of hidden historic and architectural gems in the town itself that offer a fascinating insight into Crediton's history. In particular, the parish church of the Holy Cross, which is constructed of magnificent red sandstone. Furthermore, away from the main road, side streets reveal delightful cottages in cob and brick.

This cycle route is ideal for exploring the rolling countryside that surrounds Crediton, and passes through the Mid Devon villages of Sandford, Kennerleigh and Woolfardisworthy (pronounced "Woolsery"!).

Relevant maps/guides: Explorer (1:25,000) No. OL 114 Exeter and the Exe Valley; Landranger (1:50,000) No. 191 Okehampton and North Dartmoor
Facilities along route: Although it is sensible to take a drink with you on the routes, there are post offices/village shops and pubs along the way. There is a bike shop in Crediton.
Please note that this is not a Devon County Council maintained route. This route takes in some extremely attractive scenery and spectacular views, although there are some steep climbs! There are also some interesting churches along the route.
