Sustainability, "Green-ness", and Discover Devon Naturally
The state of the environment is of concern to us all. Discover Devon Naturally is all about cherishing the diversity of our natural environment so that it remains for future generations to enjoy. The project seeks to support Devon’s tourism industry in understanding how they can reduce their own environmental impacts, it also looks to recognise and reward those businesses who are already taking important steps towards this.

Why Sustainability?
Tourism, by it very nature is a consumable which impacts both positively and negatively on our environment. We wish to conserve and enhance our unique qualities by ensuring the visitor is sustainably catered for throughout the year. In doing this we will be helping to improve the quality of life for Devon residents and businesses, and supporting Devon County Council’s desire to make Devon greener.

What we are hoping to achieve with the project and our approach?
We know that communicating with and encouraging visitors to Devon who have already ‘got the green t-shirt’ will not create the kind of environmental savings that we now need. We want to ensure that all visitors to Devon use our natural resources in a responsible manner.

Learn more about our Green Awareness Training courses, business subsidies towards the Green Tourism Business Scheme and Walking & Cycling Friendly Schemes plus how the project has generated £7.5 million in sales for Devon businesses and safeguarded or created 107 jobs… ... and we still have two years of the project to go!
