Dartmoor and West Devon

Dartmoor National Park Dartmoor is a living, working landscape where the ghosts of the past and creatures of the imagination rise with the evening mists. Today's farmers tread in the steps of Bronze Age man, medieval monks and tinners, and Dartmoor ponies and Blackface sheep graze on heathland stalked by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's 'Hound of the Baskervilles'.

Ruby Country
Tranquil villages, winding lanes, rolling landscape, with Dartmoor and Exmoor as a dramatic backdrop make Ruby Country an ideal base for activites such as cycling, rambling, horse riding and fishing.

Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty
West of Dartmoor - and in contrast to the barren open landsacpes of the National Park - lies an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, breathtaking scenery and a rich and varied wildlife.

Exeter and Heart of Devon

City
Exeter is a thriving capital hub with its rich history spanning more than 2,000 years from Roman times. Once a bustling port for the woollen trade, today Exeter combines architectural splendour with a bountiful array of shops, restaurants, bars and live music venues.

Coast
Essential Devon is fringed by more than thirty miles of dramatic World Heritage Coastline charting 185 million years of the Earth's history. From towering red cliffs and undulating sand dunes to sheltered coves, rock pools and sparkling sea, it's not hard to see why this coastline has been designated an area of universal importance.
Sandy expanses of Dawlish Warren and Exmouth, to the crunch of pebbles at Branscombe and Beer, thirty miles of stunning coastline fringe Essential Devon.

Country
With most of the area designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to two National Parks, there are few places better to get close to nature and enjoy the pace of country life. The Blackdown Hills are one of our rural gems, it has the special qualities of unspoiled beauty together with a rare sense of timelessness.
