Such is the fantastic and exciting range of happenings in Devon, selecting just a few of the major ones is almost impossible. But here is just a taster of the very special events that Devon excels at.

For the truly historic, try the annual Tavistock Goose Fair, an annual meeting for trading, business and gossip dating back to the 12th century - with some distinctly modern additions! Equally traditional in focus is the Dartmoor Folk Festival; highlights include ceilidhs, music sessions, Dartmoor Stepdance and Broomdance Championships, craft displays and dances.

Right at the other end of the spectrum is the Goldcoast Oceanfest, when world-class athletes compete at surfing, paddle racing and mountain bike trials and much, much more. And to set it all off, there is live music.

For sheer spectacle Dartmouth's magnificent Regatta is hard to beat, an brilliant extravaganza of air displays, music, rowing, fun fair and fireworks.

Exeter's festival of South West Food & Drink celebrates the fine flavours, tastes and aromas of Devon's wonderful produce, and the Devon County Show combines a vivid snapshot of farming life in Devon with a mass of entertainments for all.
